Balogh named 2023 AMS Fellow

Date
11/11/22

Professor Jozsef Balogh has been selected for the 2023 class of Fellows of the American Mathematical Society (AMS). Only thirty-nine mathematicians across the United States were awarded this honor this year.

According to the AMS website, “the Fellows of the American Mathematical Society program recognizes members who have made outstanding contributions to the creation, exposition, advancement, communication, and utilization of mathematics.” Balogh was cited specifically for his contributions to extremal combinatorics, probability and additive number theory, as well as for graduate mentoring. Balogh is also the principal investigator for two large NSF grants within the Department of Mathematics: one supporting the establishment of a research training group in combinatorics; the other funding focused collaborative research in extremal combinatorics and flag algebras.
